Alaya Resort, a sanctuary of serenity
Ubud is one of Bali’s most popular districts for both tourists and expats. In the heart of the jungle, Ubud is your destination for exploring temples, chasing waterfalls and visiting some of the most beautiful rice terraces in Asia. It’s also home to a bustling village centre, filled with trendy yoga studios, plenty of healthy eateries, bars and of course the famous Ubud market. What you don’t expect to find nestled right in the heart of it however, is the five star Bali sanctuary of serenity that is Alaya Resort.
Just off the main road into the centre, Alaya Ubud is a hidden paradise only a stones throw from the busy hub but, once you’re inside, it feels a million miles away from the rest of the world. The grounds are made up of elegant water features, an on-site rice terrace and the most immaculate tropical gardens, littered with vibrant flowers and sky-scraping palm tree’s. Architecturally, the resort is an unusual mix of both traditional Balinese elements and contemporary design that provides a perfect balance of culture and luxury. An oasis that should be at the top of your Bali bucket list.
Whilst you are next to the town, Alaya Ubud boasts two gorgeous restaurants on site should you want to stay in for the evening. Manisan restaurant being the more formal (and our favourite) of the two is cocooned between the rice fields, making for a peaceful spot to enjoy delicious traditional asian dishes. For extra special occasions, a private candlelit dinner can be arranged here too and we’d say its a 10/10 spot to be popping a certain question.
Following a day of exploring, you’ll want to take a swim in one of their two turquoise pools. Encased by the gardens and surrounded by luxury daybeds, there’s even a pool bar hut for those tiki-style afternoon refreshments. You also might want to stroll over to their renowned Da La spa for a traditional Balinese massage or flower bath. They also offer themed spa packages for a full afternoon of indulgence.
One of the most special parts of Alaya, though, and what makes it stand apart from other properties, is the home away from home feel provided in their superb accommodation. Offering a variety of deluxe rooms with stunning decor that echos the fusion of traditional and contemporary you find throughout the resort. The suite rooms in particular offer a wonderful stay experience, complete with a cloud-like super king, an in-room bath big enough for two, a separate lounge and dining area topped off by a spacious balcony offering panoramic views over the resort and neighbouring rice fields. A slice of five star Bali luxury you won’t forget.
